The Box Elder Mosquito Abatement District has detected West Nile virus at higher than average levels. Treatment of mosquitoes in the larval and adult stages will be ongoing to decrease the threat of the virus.
We ask that Box Elder County citizens do their part by not allowing standing water on their property to help eliminate mosquito production sites. Anything that holds water for more than a few days can potentially produce mosquitoes.
Please take proper precautions if you are outside after dusk. Be sure to wear long sleeve shirts and pants. Mosquito Repellent with DEET or Picaridin is also a great way to avoid mosquito bites.
If you plan on attending any outdoor events such as the County Fair or Peach Days, please use proper precautions to avoid mosquito contact.
